Description[]
This is the ability to assimilate as though one belongs to a timeline to which one does not naturally belong.
Uses/Applications (Pros)[]
One with this ability could psychically access greater speed and reflexes, as a result of one's temporal displacement. In addition, one could psychically access knowledge of one's native time frame, while in the new time frame. Furthermore, one could, in some cases, resist aging and/or other temporal effects. One could also have one's aging, healing factor or mortality affected by one's temporal displacement. One could even psychically project one's presence into the new time frame, writing oneself in as a natural part of the history.
Weaknesses/Limitations (Cons)[]
Unnatural temporal displacement is the common thread that makes a superhuman an Anachronism. An Anachronism may be displaced at or before birth (innate), or displaced after birth through science and/or magic (incidental). Perhaps science or superpowers reconfigured parents' contributing DNA to match the user (instead of another baby that would have been born). Perhaps the user was scientifically or supernaturally relocated to another mother in the past, future or an alternate version of the present. Perhaps the user even had abilities of their own, that relocated them to a different time frame, as a remarkable superhuman subconscious defense mechanism (ie the user's subconscious abilities prevent their birth into a doomed timeline).
Whether innate or incidental, each type of Anachronism has its own distinct set of challenges.
